In August 2021, during extreme heat and one of the largest music festivals of the reason, the hip Wicker Park community in Chicago suffered a devastating blackout followed by a massive fire caused after a conflict between gangs turned violent. Local crowds grew angry after a call for Quasars sent Team Liberty into the region to restore order. The situation was ascerbated by the local police, who called for mass arrests in spite of the ongoing spreading fires, driven to four-alarm levels by spreading August winds and month-long dry conditions. As police went to arrest protesters, many of whom turned out to be locals fleeing or attempting to find loved ones in the confusion, crowds grew violent and focused on the arriving Team Liberty.

After a near-deadly incident involving Neostar and some rioters, Agent Examplar called for Team Liberty's excision to allow local organizations a chance to "restore order". The media reported this as Team Liberty's retreat, which further aggravated local citizens and further emboldened mob-mentality crowds. Director Stephen Anson approached the mayor with a relief plan to aid in restoring power and combatting the spread of fire. Mayor Aldritch Bookham announced that the Cook County Sherriff had deputized field representatives of the Daedalus Foundation and explained that their vehicles would be deployed to fight fires.

Using field staff in Eurymedon walkers and Ibis hover vehicles, and with the aid of deployed reinforcements from nearby towns, order was quickly restored to the community. While the Wicker Park fire did result in eight fatalities, Mayor Bookham, in a subsequent press conference, called out missteps by public services and even by his own office, but he followed up, publicly announcing that "Daedalus Foundation earned their place as a community partner and that their presence today gave us a chance to save dozens of lives that we couldn't have before."
